QE2 Ocean Liner Illustration
The QE2, designed by the renowned James Gardner, was a revolutionary vessel with a futuristic, space-age aesthetic that broke from transatlantic traditions. Launched by Cunard in 1969, she was built to sail far into the future, with later additions and a completely new engine ensuring her longevity. The QE2 embodies the liner and cruise ship era I cherish most, inspiring me to illustrate her as she was originally designed and built. Beyond her striking styling, she featured a clever paint scheme with khaki-colored bulkheads and charcoal davits, enhancing her sleek profile.
This illustration is meticulously crafted using original photos, drawings, general arrangement plans, and design specifications to ensure accuracy. These resources form the foundation for this precise and detailed artwork.
