Raffaello Ocean Liner Illustration
In the 1960s, as airplanes began to dominate transatlantic travel, the Italian Line (Italia Società di Navigazione) boldly introduced the Raffaello and Michelangelo ocean liners. The Raffaello, infused with distinctive Italian "DNA," distinguished itself from other European liners through its innovative architectural superstructure, open deck layout, and quirky funnels. Its extravagant interiors, designed to reflect the latest Italian trends, epitomized luxury. However, rapidly changing times led to the ship's early retirement in 1975. From a design perspective, the Raffaello remains captivating, and capturing its essence and beauty in this illustration was a rewarding experience.
This artwork is meticulously crafted using original photos, drawings, general arrangement plans, and design specifications to ensure accuracy. These resources form the foundation for this precise and detailed illustration.
